Commitments ~ Commitment ceremonies are similar to wedding ceremonies, encompassing the same style and format, apart from the legal aspect. They are just as meaningful for those who, for various reasons, find their circumstances suit this form of dedication to each other. Every other element described can be incorporated to make these ceremonies reflect the devotion and commitment the individuals feel as they publicly declare their lifelong promises to each other whilst surrounded by family and friends.

| Name givings ~
This ceremony announces the names to be given to a new baby in the family and also welcomes the child not just into their own immediate family but also into a circle of extended family and friends. This celebration of a new life is a non-religious occasion with no legal element and, generally, is held in a family home or garden. Lovely words are read and special gifts and rituals can be included. For example, the sprinkling of rose petals on the new baby by its brother and/or sister, the lighting of candles and/or the releasing of balloons/or doves to mark the family's joy at its new member of the fold.

| Renewal of Vows ~
Many married couples wish to renew their commitment to each other as a reaffirmation of their love and devotion. This ceremony may be held, for example, on a special anniversary of their marriage. Couples who marry overseas may wish to have a renewal of their vows ceremony to include their families and friends when they return home. This can be arranged in a way similar to a wedding ceremony but without the legal aspect. |
